Army Chief of Staff Salutes Fayetteville
General George W. Casey, Jr. stated “Fayetteville has always been way ahead of the curve when it comes to taking care of our Soldiers and our families. Families are the strength of our Soldiers and our Soldiers are the strength of our Army.” |
Boeing, a major aviation manufacturer that does business with the Army’s Special Operations Command, has opened a Fayetteville office.

Local Home Value Growth Leads the Nation In February, Zillow Real Estate Market Reports ranked Fayetteville as the No. 1 housing market in the nation for appreciation in the fourth quarter of 2008. According to the reports, houses across most of Cumberland County increased in value 6.9 percent compared with a year earlier, while nationally the average value of homes plummeted 11.6 percent. |

Last fall Cumberland County’s per diem rate raised from the standard Continental United States (Conus) of $70 for lodging and $39 for meals to $85 for lodging and $49 for meals. The 21% increase represented the largest increase in per diem reimbursements in the state. That percentage traveling on government business of the 160,000 overnight visitors to the community’s hotels each month will reimbursement the local hotels and restaurants over 20%, resulting in more income to this important part of local economy. |
Fayetteville Tax Rate Among Lowest in N.C. Local taxes and fees in Fayetteville totaled $1,527 per resident and ranked 27th among North Carolina’s 31 largest cities according to a new report from the Raleigh-based Center for Local Innovation.
