Fayetteville Ranked Among Best Performing Large Cities The Fayetteville Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) was recently ranked 31st in the nation in Best Performing Economies, up from 52nd last year.
In 2003, Fayetteville ranked 162nd. |
Large Defense Contractor Relocates
Booz Allen Hamilton, FORSCOM’s largest defense contractor, announced that it is expanding to 300 well-paying jobs in Fayetteville. The expansion follows the company’s recent decision to open its corporate office in Fayetteville. |
Veterans Park Ground Broken
Construction began on phase 1 of the downtown State Veterans Park. The Fayetteville City Council approved a construction contractor bid on January 11th for the construction of one pedestrian trail, one comfort station and parking lot for the Freedom Memorial Park area, a campus connector walkway and one flag court. The park is scheduled to open on July 4, 2011.

City Adds Recycling Opportunities In the city’s ongoing efforts to encourage citizens to recycle, the Environmental Services Department have placed recycling carts at city-owned buildings and athletic fields. In addition the city is developing plans to extend recycling to commercial buildings and multi-family housing units. The proposal will be presented to the city council during the spring. |
Dogwood Festival Earns Top Honors The Fayetteville Dogwood Festival earned top honors at a competition among events in North and South Carolina. In addition to these awards, the Southeast Tourism Society named the Dogwood Festival a Top 20 Event in the Southeast for April 2010. |
Airport Seating Capacity Up Airlines have increased seating capacity at Fayetteville Regional Airport by 42.4 percent during the last two years. In comparison, domestic capacity is down 12.4 percent nationwide since January 2008. |
First Project Announced for Military Business Park The Partnership for Defense Innovation (PDI), a tax exempt 501c (3) organization which promotes economic development, announced that they will become the first tenant in the Military Business Park where they will house their Research and Development (R&D) Lab. The PDI R&D Lab works in partnership with the government, academia and private industry while focusing on the transition of technology for the application of advanced systems and equipment to the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), and other unique missions related to transformation of the U.S. military and the Global War on Terrorism. |
